Our story · Since 2012

We make furniture to be lived with, not looked at.

Velmora Living began with two brothers, four master carpenters and a stack of seasoned sheesham in Jodhpur. Today we design and make for homes across India — still by hand, still in our own workshops.

Our craft

Eleven pairs of hands, one piece of furniture.

Every Velmora piece is made in our Jodhpur and Saharanpur workshops, from log to final coat of oil.
  1. Two workers carrying seasoned timber planks through a timber market

    Step 01

    Selecting timber

We buy seasoned logs from certified yards and dry every board to below 12% moisture.

  2. Carpenter marking a board with a pencil amid fresh wood shavings

    Step 02

    Marking & joinery

Mortise-and-tenon and dovetail joints are marked and cut by hand for strength that lasts.

  3. Craftsman shaping a wooden edge by hand with a block plane

    Step 03

    Shaping by hand

Edges are planed and sanded by hand through six grits until they feel like silk.

  4. Woodworker in a leather apron planing a board at the workbench

    Step 04

    Finishing

Natural oils and hard waxes are built up in thin coats and inspected under daylight.

Responsibly sourced wood

Good furniture starts in the forest.

We buy plantation teak from certified growers, reclaim sal from old railway sleepers and choose FSC-certified timber wherever it is available. Offcuts become small pieces and kindling, finishes are low-VOC, and every piece is built to be repaired rather than replaced.
